Parabox Digital is small enough that you never have to explain your project twice. The person you have the first conversation with is the person who does the work. Nothing gets lost being passed between a salesperson, a designer and whoever ends up building it.
It exists because too many sites are commissioned on how they look. They end up slow, hard to update, and unable to say what they do for the business paying for them. We would rather build the smaller thing that works.
Parabox Digital is Andrew Ly. I was still in school when I started building software, years before I was designing it, mostly custom web apps and games. One of them still opens my family's garage door. In 2020 I started learning UX design through courses and my own projects, because building things that worked had stopped being enough on its own. It turned into the part of the work I care about most.
Freelance work followed in 2022, and in 2026 the studio took the name Parabox Digital, a play on paradox and thinking outside the box. The design and the build are the same pair of hands. Nothing gets drawn here that cannot be built.
Every project starts with a conversation about your ultimate goal. What the site has to achieve decides what gets built, so the scope arrives after that conversation.
The work runs in four steps: conversation, direction, build, then grow. You own the site, the domain and the accounts at the end of it, and the design files are yours to keep.
Leads, sales and the things the business can actually count. Before a build starts we agree which of those numbers it is meant to move, so there is something to judge it against later.
That is why speed and structure are part of every build rather than an upgrade, and why the reporting afterwards is written in plain language instead of a dashboard nobody opens.
The studio is in Sacramento, California. We work remotely by default, wherever the client is, and local clients get the option of meeting in person.
